Hi ,

Due to a recent customer service nightmare with Microsoft ive gotten rid of all my MS stuff and am now looking at buying this Macbook Pro :
MacBook Pro - 15"

* 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
* 1440 x 900 resolution
* 2GB memory
* 160GB hard drive1
* 8x double-layer SuperDrive
* NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT graphics with 256MB SDRAM

Im New to Macs and so have a few queries regarding compatability.

Will the below hardware work fine with a MAC ?

250gb Seagate external hardrive (USB).
LG DVD±RW burner GSA-E60N, 18x, Super Multi (USB).
USB memory Key (4gb)
Netgear Router

Any help is much appreciated.

The HD, thumbdrive and router will. The DVD burner should, but I can't guarantee it.

it should all work.

Depending on the format of the hard drive and you may have to reformat it.

You may need a driver for the dvd burner. you should be able to find it at the manufactures web site.

250gb Seagate external hardrive (USB) - Almost definately, but if it's formated as NTFS, you won't be able to write to it and will have to reformat.

LG DVD±RW burner GSA-E60N, 18x, Super Multi (USB) - Probably not. There are no OS X drivers on the website (I just looked)

USB memory Key (4gb) - Should be fine

Netgear Router - Almost definately, but I would look to ensure the firmware is up to date. Many router manufacturers suddenly reaslised rececently a lot of people are suddenly using these weird things called Macs.

Yes, you don't need the external drive. In fact USB external DVD writers gobble CPU cycles, so best avoided.

Agreed. All should work but the Burner maybe not supported by some burning software, but then again it might be. I will see if I can find out and get back to you.

If you want the drive to still work with a Windows PC, make it FAT32. If not just format it on the Mac to Apples format.
