Anyone who can help me with this gets my eternal gratitude!

AM trying to connect my imac to a Sony Bravia using the HDMI connection. I have the HDMi-DVI lead connected to a mini DVi- Dvi dongle into my mac. When I set the TV to the HDMI setting it just shows up the default imac blue background but shows nothing else. No applications or anything else that is on my imac screen. Where am I going wrong?

PS you may have to put it in simple terms because I'm pretty technologically thick.

Sounds as if you want to mirror your displays. Which there is a checkbox in the display preference pane.

Right now it's in extended desktop where you could drag windows from your iMac to the right off the screen, which it should then appear on your Bravia
