Intel Core Solo - Mac Mini 512mb leopard?

I am a little nervous about upgrading the ram in my Mac Mini, my system only has 512mb.

Although that is enough for most tasks, leopard requires 512mb just to load. How much would it hurt the performance of my computer to run leopard with the bare minium requirements?
