Can I use Apple TV to watch my DVDís

What I would like to do, is put a DVD into my Imac and then watch it in my TV which will be connected to the Apple TV.

If I understand correctly I have to load the DVD onto Itunes (Is this process called ripping?) is this legal?

Please advise if its easy for me to do this,

Thanks Antony Berrill

1. Download Handbrake: http://handbrake.m0k.org/
2. Rip DVD using AppleTV settings
3. Add file to iTunes

You can store all of your DVD movies digitally and stream them to your AppleTV.
