formatting a flash drive
i need to format my flash drive so it will be recognized on both os x and windows. it seems to work fine when i format it as fat 32 on windows. however i can't find a way to do it with os x. i cannot find how to format it as fat 32 in the disc utility. i need to use them for school (windows) but i don't have the permissions to format them at school, and my home is os x only. any help?

In disk utility, Fat32 is listed as MS DOS file format. Just click on the drive and click on format with MS DOS file system...

that was my first assumption was that it would be MS DOS. but when i formatted it as such, it was not recognized by windows systems, and i had to reformat it on windows.

Is there a problem accessing Windows formatted FAT32 drives on your mac?

not at all, i have them working off that. but i reformatt them often, and it would be ever so much better to be able to do it off of a mac.

Anyway, I've always done the MS DOS thing and it works without fail on any Windows PC...

You are getting the "formatting complete" thing right?
