How can I dismantle my mighty mouse?
The little ball thing is only working in one direction - I can scroll down, but scrolling up hardly ever works, and when it does it's jerky. I'm pretty sure it's gotta be dirty, so I want to clean it out.

How do I do that without destroying the mouse?

The answer is . . . swiss army knife

It's working now. I prised the ring off the bottom, pulled the guts out of the mouse, unscrewed the ball assembly and disconnected it, then gave it a good clean with alcohol.

The ring is a bit loose now. I think it needs to be glued on. It works anyway though.

Yes, that ring needs to be fixed back in. I thought about using something temporary so it can be easily removed and cleaning in the future, but I don't use the MM that much anyway.

I judge you when you use poor grammar.

Wow, you all are brave to me! Sometimes my mouse does this, but usually give a good rub-around on a damp cloth and it's right back to normal. If it ever stops working permanently (before a year is up) I'll take it right in for a replacement.

I'm with fleuyra on this one.

Actually, after I got a new one, when my old one stopped working, and it started having troubles I stopped using the MM all-together.
