External hard drive compatiblity?

Anyone know if this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136082

is compatible with the intel based imac?

Thanks in advance for any help

Yes, but wouldn't recommend that one unless you are going to get an eSATA card. You don't want to be dependent on USB, the actual time of transfers with FireWire 400 or 800 (aka 1394a and 1394b) are twice as fast. You can check out my last post in this thread for some actual timed tests.

If you like the WD, try this one instead.
WD also makes one that has all 4 connections, USB, FW400, FW800 and eSATA and it can also be found at newegg.

Thanks a lot for the info!

What external hard drive in the $180 range would be the best value in general for an imac?
