just read where Apple has quietly incorporated 720x404 for DVD quality videos and 1280 x 720 for high def movies into Apple TV. These will also play in iTunes but cannot be transferred to iPod from iTunes. No mention of Hi def being sold thru iTunes store.
I have an iPod and have converted a bunch of movies to 640x480 or 640x3xx to get them to play on the iPod as well as in iTunes. They are not DVD quality as defined, but look pretty good. Does this mean that I should re-compress these movies at 720x480 for AppleTV? I have found that I don't really care to watch movies on the iPod anyway and would rather use Apple TV for this but now everything is at 640x480. |
