I've been using Macs for about 5 years now with few problems, but recently I've been having a couple of major ones. I have two external firewire hard drives. They are both Seagates with Kingston enclosures. They seem to be in conflict with each other. I can't turn them both on at the same time without them both being disconnected which in turn causes an error. Then they no longer exist to the mac until I restart the entire system. It's frustrating, because one is for recording music and the other is a backup. Sadly, I need to back up my music. Does anyone know what might be wrong?

My other problem is with my printer. I've had the printer for almost 4 years. It's a Brother HL-5040, which is a laser printer. This is the first time anything like this has happened. Every time I go to print something off it gives me the message that all print jobs have been stopped and asks if I want to restart them. Of course, I know for a fact I didn't stop them, but I press ok...at which point it begins to print off like a hundred pages with only one character per page. The first time this happened I made the mistake of leaving the room only to return and find all my paper gone. Now I press cancel on the printer. Then reprint the page. I have to go through this every time I print. Does anyone have any ideas? I appreciate any comments. Thanks in advance.

For your first question, the only thing I can think of is that maybe they both have the same name? But not sure why it would suddenly cause problems.

The printer problem though, should be more easily solved. Open up Printer Setup Utility, in /applications/utilities, and in the Printer Setup Utility menu, select Reset Printing System. You will then need to reselect your printer and drivers, etc in your Printer Tab in System Preferences.

Thank you StretchR! The drives have different names, and that problem really has me baffled. I'll take care of the printer by doing what you said. Thanks again.
