I just bought a 32" HDTV to use as a TV/Monitor combo, using a DVI - VGA cable I hooked it up to my Mac Pro, the resolution was wrong, but its native res (1360 x 768) wasn't in the list, I found SwitchResX and switched it to the exact res it said in the TV's manual.

Now whenever I boot to Mac it says Mode not Supported on screen, so I can't get into Mac! I'm on Windows using boot camp at the minute.

Can I change the resolution somehow without going into Mac? As a last resort, would re-installing OS X fix it?

Thanks so much,
Lee

I have the same size and native res, try 1280x960.

If you look in your manual it will tell you that this is the best resolution for computers, the max native with a coupter is 1280x768 but my mac doesnt display it well. 1280x960 is the best option.

Thing is everytime I boot to OS X, it just says Mode not Supported so I can't actually see anything to change it!

I did have it as 1280x768 but it was a bit blurry which is why I wanted to change it to 1360 x 768, will try 1280x960 if I can figure out a way to see OS X!

mine was also blurry in 1280x768 hence 1280x768. Its not that OS X cant support 1360x768, its the technology. Mine says on the box, computer max res 1280x768

Try booting in safe mode using these instructions, then just set it to the max res you can in System Preferences but no higher. There appears to be a discrepancy between the manual and the actual capabilities of the hardware.

Out of interest, what make and model is the TV?

I have a 32'' LCD HDTV that I use as a monitor and its resolution, like every other non 1080p HDTV, is 1366x768, not 1360. It shows up immediately for me.

I'm not sure why it doesn't show up for me

It definitely says 1360 x 768 in my TV's manual (It's a Samsung 32") I've got SwitchRes X displaying in 1360 x 768 which looks OK, but it only works if I have my 20" cinema display plugged in aswell lol. If I unplug that, it goes back to 1280x768, can't figure that one out.

strange, I am considering selling my HDTV to just buy a 17" imac as I never use the TV for anything but the internet once or twice a month. TV here is that great.
