iBook - digital recorders?

Two questions... First, will most all digital recorders work with a Mac? Second, how would I transfer voice material off a digital recorder onto my ibook?

Mac Specs: 20" iMac C2D 2.16ghz, 13" MacBook 2.0ghz, 60gb iPod vid, 1gb nano

you will have to look at the specifications of the recorder to see if it is compatible. I only saw a few olympus that are compatible. I use a Sony recorder through parallels

what would I need as far as software if I wanted to clean something up off a digital recorder. Mostly voices. By cleaning up, I mean, getting rid of background noise (if need be) and amplifying it louder?
