I'm thinking about buying of these logitech keyboard mouse wireless combos. I am sick to death of the scroll ball on this thing. What a USELESS piece of crap this things has turned out to be.

Anyone got anything to report on the logitech one. I'm not too happy about the dongle thing, but if it works them it'll be worth it. Is it bluetooth or wi-fi?

Are you able to set up another mouse with the same mouse functions as the Apple mouse?

Trackpad vs Mouse

Hello everyone;

I'm kind of new here, but I urgently need your help. I am looking for a mouse that can, at least, compete with my Mac's trackpad. I've heard that you can customize a mouse buttons to do a specific function- ie MX or VX nano, but I don't know if that will really work for me. I love the trackpad because of its 4-finger swipe, I would like to know if I can customize any mouse to do that.... Thanks a lot.

Well, Apple just released a mouse that has gesture support on the surface, that might be worth looking into:

Apple - Magic Mouse - The world’s first Multi-Touch mouse.

I really want the new 'Magic Mouse', I've just spent way too much this month...

I'm currently using a Mighty Mouse which I find pretty uncomfortable but hey, it's got a Apple badge on it!

Mac Specs: MacBook Pro Unibody 15"(mid2009)/ 2.66GHz/4,00 GB/320GB - iPhone 3G/ 8GB // PowerBook 1,25 GHz/1,5GB
I must have that one!!
This is one of the things that has not been thought through enough with a MBP,
theres no USB on the right side, rendering the wired mighty-mouse's wire to short.

Yes I'm still using wired, lol

Ah that's ugly... especially since I ordered one this afternoon, I was going to get it... but I was in the shop and they didn't have it yet.

How about overthere??

MAgic mouse, called so probably because if it works, it'll probably actually BE magic!

I am sick to death of this stupid scroll ball. For weeks it has been scrolling down but not up, and when I try to scroll up it always ends up throwing up the dash board because it sticks, so I went downstairs and took a damp cloth and scrubbed the crap out of it!

Three times!

Guess what? It still doesn't flaming work!

Mac Specs: Late-2008 MacBook Air with SSD.
FedEx just dropped off my magic mouse. Interesting as the packaging did not include the ubiquitous white box. Mouse was inside an oval plastic case surrounded by solid packing foam. They must be pushing these out before they are totally boxed. Up I also like that there was less wasteful packaging than I've seen Apple use in the past.

Like some others have said in different threads, there seem to be a slight lag when scrolling up/down - but I assume I'll get used to it.

All in all, seems fine for now.

Ok my turn.

I bought my Magic Mouse from the store. Not Apple one as there is none in my State. It was another store. I saw the guy as he was putting them out on the shelf and got one. And the only issue I had with it was not downloading the right driver for it. It took a while to find the one for 10.6.1 on the Apple site.

But apart from that it works fine. Scrolling and the 2 finger swipe all work fine. When set up properly. And yes you can not right and left click on it at the same time, but I have never needed to do both at the same time.

So it's like the old mighty mouse with all the scrolling features without the bad scroll nipple. So thumbs up for me. I like it. A little pricey but worth it I think.

Oh sure, the little scroll ball works magic when you first get it. But after a while it gets clogged with dirt, so you have to clean it with a damp cloth. I'm at the stage where I have to clean it practically every day to to get any sort of response from it, and by clean I might literally scrubbing the heck out of it for a few minutes.

Scrolling down tends to be more reliable, but because it's dirty inside and sticks more whenever I try to scroll up the force I have to use ends up causing me to click the mouse button in unison, which then causes the dashboard to appear all the time!

80 euro for a mouse that partially stops working after about 6 months. Great.

I thought the world had learned from and moved on from scroll ball technology in mice?

Why don't they just use a darn scroll wheel!

Don't know if this has been mentioned in here before, but I've found a great way to really clean the ball in the Mighty Mouse.

Basically, I was unable to scroll down with the mouse for a few weeks and decided to clean it out. I tried the paper trick doing figures of eights for a few moments etc to no avail. Then I thought I'd try some blu-tac. Wow! It's like its brand new again.

So if you've got a scrolling problem with your MM grab a little bit of blu-tac, flatten it out and do some scrolling on it!

Mighty mouse

Hi - not sure how to use this, but have bought a mighty mouse, and on my previous Apple wireless mouse, you could squeeze the two buttons on the side to switch between applications - can you do this with the mighty mouse ?

Thanks......Jamie
