I'm using my Rocketfish BT keyboard and mouse that I use for my ps3. It paired with my mbp pro without any problems.

How about this?

New iMac user here. I've got a couple of mouse questions for you guys that I didn't see in the last 11 pages of posts.

I have an iMac 24 with a wireless MM.

1. Is there a way to configure the scroll ball to open links in a separate tab? I use Firefox.

2. Is there a way to configure the scroll ball to do fast scrolling like on a PC? For example, I had a regular Dell mouse that came with my E510, I would be able to press the scroll ball down and be able to scroll in all directions wthout having to move my finger on it.

3. If not, will any of these other mice be able to do that on my new iMac?

Thanks in advance. Hopefully I will be able to do this on my MM, but I doubt it.

1) Yup: If you leave the scroll ball "unconfigured", i.e. with nothing assigned, it should open links in a tab when clicked.

2) Not with the built-in utilities: USB Overdrive X or Steermouse might be able to.

Aptmunich: Thank you thank you thank you. I can live without exposé. I really like being able to open new links with the scroll ball. And the fast scrolling is not that big a deal. So I'll be ok.

Thanks again.

A mouse question--I plan to replace my Logitech LX7 optical with an LX8 laser mouse. Do I need to remove the software for the LX 7 before installing the new mouse? If so, how is this done. The software does not show up in Applications but only in System Preferences. Thanks for any advice.

I've just switched to a MX Revolution... if you go wireless - proprietary RF seems the way to go.

Both bluetooth mice I've owned have been a fair bit less accurate than this, which basically feels just as good as my wired mouse.

The wired mighty mouse that came with my iMac drives me insane with having to continually clean it over and over just to get it to scroll vertically properly. However, I'm living with it for the time being.

What is weird is that ever since I got the iMac (June/08) the horizontal feature has not worked. Again, I've lived with it, but would like the setting to work. Any ideas? Thanks!

Argh, just as I was posting this, it stopped scrolling down vertically AGAIN after just cleaning it. That's it. Enough.

Since everything is under warranty, would I have to take the bugger into an Apple Store (not even close) or will they deal with this over the phone? I'm going to buy something else, but it would be nice to at least have it replaced for a back-up.

single click sucks, i use a generic HP 2 button from walmart.

actually its technically a 3 button, as the scroll wheel clicks too.

i love having my right click, especially when playing WoW where it is NOT practical to haved to hold command to right click. plus clicking the scroll wheel opens links in a new window/tab (your preference of course)

i go nuts when i'm on the go and forget to take the mouse with me

I've got a problem with my wired mighty mouse. It won't scroll up for me. I've tried cleaning it with a q-tip and rubbing alcohol while holding it upside down, and while that used to work, it doesn't now.

Anybody have any ideas?

hmm.. I'm getting annoyed with my wireless mighty mouse. Its ok and feels fine but the scroll ball jsut isn't good enough and the mouse itself isn't accurate enough. I like the weight tho and the squeeze function for Expose. Also the battery issue annoys me. So I am thinking of getting a mouse with a dock so it can charge when I'm not using it. They all seem to be "wireless" tho not bluetooth. This is a bit crap isn't it? Means it will take up a USB port on my iMac - anyone found a bluetooth mouse with a dock with ideally, a good replication of the squeeze function? I have seen this:
Logitech MX Revolution Wireless Laser Mouse
Logitech MX Revolution Wireless Laser Mouse - Ebuyer

Which looks ok but its not bluetooth and is a funny shape - not sure how I'd find that. The last logitech mouse I used about 10 years ago was insanely heavy. I don't want a brick again. I guess I need to go and find one of these to play with. thoughts?
