Time Machine Fail

Mac Specs: Early 2008 MPB 15" 10.9.4 4 GB 667 MHz DD2 SDRAM 2.5 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

PHILOSBORN is offline
Time Machine unable to complete backup to myToshiba 1TB HDD.
Been using this backup device for months. Please suggest next steps.

Mac Specs: 2.8 GHz MacBook Pro 10.8,3 8 GB mem, 2.66 GHz Mac Pro - Dead, iPhone 4

Slydude is offline
Open the Time Machine preference pane and see if you see a small red circle in the pane. Click there and it should give you an error message about why the backup failed. Post that message here and we can give you some suggestions.

Got a black (not red) circle. Message : Unable to complete backup. An error occurred while creating the backup folder.

I have run Utilities>disk repair against the HDD. It found a couple of errors, but reported a successful disk repair. Thanks Sly for the quick reply. -Phil

Time Machine backups now working normally. The disk repair seems to have done the trick. Lets close this thread. -Phil
