from my OSX 10.9.4 to samsung note 2 and back? appreciate if someone can tell me which is more user friendly, and if AFT is compatible with other android phones, that can only be a plus.

remember using kies on my pc in past and didnt remember it being that user friendly.

thanks in advance

Kies is rubbish. stick with Android File Transfer.
You may have to use Kies for Samsung system updates but I wouldn't use it for anything else.
