its definitely not my internet connection that is limiting my framerate. I know that for a fact. Its only when im doing a live video chat on iChat that my framerate is like 1.0 and my friends framerate is at least 15.

any ideas how to fix this? thanks.

Could be any number of things....

Are you running through a router or do you have any other firewalls?
How many other apps are you running simultaneously?
How much RAM do you have?
What Mac are you using?
What version of OS X are you running?
Have you repaired permissions?
Have you made sure you have all of the Software Updates?

The answers to those questions will help us to better assist you.

Also, just to clarify....Are you saying that you see your friend fine, but he sees you with a low framerate or vice versa?
