laser presentation remote for iPhoto

I just bought a Targus Laser Presentation Remote for my MacBook. It works great for PowerPoint. But it doesn't work for iPhoto. I was hoping it would. What do I have to buy to control an iPhote slide show remotely and also have a laser pointer?
