Following the successful first back up of the Mac on the TC, could i delete the content from the Mac and still expect to find the deleted items on the TC, even after subsequent periodical back-ups? Or will it sync as per the iPod and re-write and replace the content?

I am trying to save space on the internal hard drive.

Thanks in advance

Time Machine is not the same as " syncing ", it is a proper backup concept.

You can delete stuff from your hard disk after verifying that the data you are deleting is actually on Time Machine.

Mind you that at some point in time you TC will get full and Time Machine will start deleting the oldest backups to free up space for the current backups.
Also the hard disk in your TC, like any hard disk , can fail.
If it is valuable data, then make a second backup on another medium.

Cheers ... McBie

The problem is not the problem. The problem is your attitude towards the problem. You understand ?
