Is there a way to see the hacking attempts or to have an alert when someone is using my wi-fi?

Would it do any harm only to have it on when i need wifi and for weekly backups?
QUOTE Thanks

If you have Decent security protocol set (WPA or WPA2 as previously discussed) and a good password, no one will be using your wifi.

As far as monitoring hacking attempts . . . Don't know. I have done a security scan on my system looking for open ports, but not something I have ever paid much attention to.

Is this something you are likely to encounter?

I've always wanted to be smart, handsome and modest. But, I guess I'll have to be satisfied with two out of three . . .

Yes I live in an area which I know people try to mooch off other wi-fi networks

I used WPA2 like you suggested
