Mini DV to Mini DVI

I have an older IMAC that I am trying to connect to my newer Apple 27" Cinema Display. The only problem I am having is the plugs. off the IMAC I have a mini DV and the Display has a mini DVI. What do you all think I need?

It might help if you told us what iMac you have. There is no such thing as a "mini DV" video port and the 27" Cinema Display has a "mini displayport".
