Netgear N150 Problems

I am having a problem trying to get my new router to connect to the internet on my MacBook. I have tried it wirelessly and with the ethernet cable but can get no connection. My old one works intermittently and has to keep being switched off and on again every few days when it loses the connection. The new router was meant to solve the problem but no luck!
Can anyone help?

Have you changed the connection number from Mac to Router, eg. 10.1.1.x, or are you trying still to use the old router number? You may need to change the number via your browser (I went through this process recently).ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ
