I need to be able to transfer video files between external drives. The source drive is an ssd on a sled that has fw800, usb3 & esata connections. If I connect that to a G Technology esata/fw800/usb drive via an esata cable and connect the G Tech drive to a MBP via the fw800 does the data go through the computer thus only would transfer data at fw800 speed? Will the computer act as a controller and the data goes only between the drives through the esata cable at esata speed? Will this work at all? Do I need to wait for a thunderbolt to esata adapter and accept that fw800 is the best I can do for now? Any other options I'm missing?
Thanks! |

If the connections give drive icons that show up on your desk top and you can open them: then you can simply drag contents of one into the other. Done it more times than I can count.
