I've bought a WD external hard drive, formatted it on a mac running osx using the mac os extended journaled option. When I plug it into my old mac running os 9.2 it doesn't even mount onto the desktop. Any ideas how I can get this to work please ?

Thanks

It has to have OS9 drivers on the disk, that used to be an option in Disk Utility but now seems to have gone

But you can get it to mount by installing drivers through OS9's Drive Setup utility
Mac OS: Disk Is Available in Mac OS X But Not in Mac OS 9

From memory that including OS 9 drivers had to be established when formatting for OS X install. Under Snow Leopard think it is now a thing of the past. Problem with Intel machines and Çlassic.

Hang on to those original install discs like grim death! Using OS X.7 or later make a bootable USB thumb drive before running Installer!
