Hi Im trying to find out which monitor will be best for use with a mac pro (cant afford the apple one). I am waiting delivery of the 8 core machine and see it has the DVI and the mini connection. Im looking at HP and Samsung and keep seeing DVI-D next to some of them. Is the Mac pro DVI, and therefore not going to work with DVI-D (sorry its a basic thing but im doing my research and need to know) Or is the mac the DVI connection and the other end of the cable the DVI-D for fitting the DVI-D fitting on the monitor?... meaning it would fit?

Can any of you guys give advice with this and as to which monitors are compatible with the mac pro.

thanks

It depends on how large a monitor you need and how much you wish to spend. HP, Acer, and many others make some very nice monitors that will go well with your new Mac Pro. Search on line to get some ideas...

NewEgg, Amazon, Tiger Direct, Best Buy, Fry's, are just some of the resellers that you can search.

Don't worry about the DVI-A for Analogue or DVI-D for Digital. Any DVI monitor will simply plug and play into the Mac Pro DVI port. Use a BenQ 22" LED with my Mac Pro and it is the bees knees!

Hang on to those original install discs like grim death! Using OS X.7 or later make a bootable USB thumb drive before running Installer!

I would choose choice 1 because it uses LEDs for the backlight and is of better quality than the other two. You may be able to do some more shopping around. Since you're in the UK, you probably have a better idea of where to look.

Yes, I thought this was the best of the bunch and the price in the local stores seems to match anything I can find online. I will probably go for this one, thanks for your advice.
