Hello,

I have a iMac 2.66 Core 2 Duo running OS 10.6.6.

I recently bought a Macbook Air and loved the track pad on it, so I bought a Magic Trackpad for the iMac. It has connected and seems to work correctly, but if I don't use it for a few minutes it looses connect to the iMac and I have to press the button on the righthand side and wait for it to reconnect.

This is really frustrating as I think it is a great bit of kit and enjoy using it (when it is connected).

I had a Magic Mouse connected before and did not have this problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have never used a bluetooth device like this on my Macs. Maybe check your Bluetooth preferences in System Preferences.

And just thought I'd bump it up for you.

Hmm. I don't seem to recall having an issue like this, but it sounds like it could be related to dying batteries. I'm also running 10.6.6 I use both the trackpad and the BT keyboard, and the ONLY time they exhibit this type of behavior is when the batteries are conking out, and they put themselves to sleep to preserve what little juice is left.

If that isn't it, I'd take the trackpad into Apple for a replacement. Do you have any other BT devices that you can test ?

I agree with Doug b here, sounds like it could be a battery issue to me too. Try replacing the batteries, if the problem persists however then try removing and re-syncing the magic trackpad.

Thanks Guys,

I don't understand what has happened but the problem seems to have sorted its self out. The Bluetooth drop out has stopped, not sure why as I was waiting for a reply I haven't changed anything.
Also the 'Not Connected' problem with the Airport Extreme is now OK, as I removed my ISP from the network list and left it to the base station to deal with.

One other question, if you have time, my Bluetooth printer. I works if I connect it by cable under OSX but not by Bluetooth. If I startup in Boot Camp using Vista it works perfectly via Bluetooth, so I don't think there is a hardware problem. Any ideas?

Thanks, Stewart
