Can anyone help please?
My 3 year old macbook has stopped 'recognising' both both cds and dvds when I insert them. This means of course I can no longer burn anything. I've looked but can't find any obvious problem...............

G'day and welcome to the forums.

First off invest in a laser cleaning disc and see if there is any joy. Not good news as laptops and models using laptop optical drives suffer from failed optical drives. Just go through the threads and see the number of MB, MBP and iMacs having this problem.

To do with minaturisation?

Hang on to those original install discs like grim death! Using OS X.7 or later make a bootable USB thumb drive before running Installer!
