Hello,

I'm planning on buying three of these monitors:

http://accessories.euro.dell.com/sna...d52a3e500142b4

along with this monitor stand:

http://accessories.euro.dell.com/sna...d52a3e500142b4

and hook these monitors up to a Macbook Pro, but I'm not sure how I could connect these three monitors to the Macbook.

Is there a simple solution? Or do i have to invest in something like:

http://accessories.euro.dell.com/sna...d52a3e500142b4

in order to achieve it?

(Note: if there's a better way of achieving this setup please let me know )

Thanks again.

You will need something like that. Have no clue if that one is going to work on a Mac. The specs specifically state that Windows is the required OS.

I would suggest you look at the Matrox devices.

I have never personally set up more than dual monitors.

I cannot be held responsible for the things that come out of my mouth.

Thanks for the reply,

What do you use for your dual monitors? Matrox DualHead2Go?

I've got two external monitors attached to my MB Pro effectively giving me three monitors counting the MB Pro's built-in screen. The 24" Samsung is connected via the MB Pro's display connector. A second 19" monitor is connected to a USB port using ATPM 15.08 - Review: OWC USB 2.0 Display Adapter

This arrangement works quite well with the exception of the Open GL problem mentioned in the review. I am not sure if the other devices mentioned above have the same limitations.

That's a pretty neat setup using that OWC USB adapter to hook up a 2nd external monitor to a MBP. $98 bucks is pricey...but then the Matrox products are certainly much pricier!

- Nick

p.s. Of course a little self-promotion there!

p.p.s. Actually..I just went to OWC...and found this product that seems to very similar to what "Slydude" referenced:

http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Newer...ogy/VIDU2DVIA/

It's a USB video adapter from NewerTech...and is on special for $64.99.

Of course you can get the original OWC product for even less:

http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Other...ing/VIDU2DVIA/

...it's on special for $49.99!!!

No harm in a little self promotion right.

By the time I bought the unit I reviewed the price had dropped a bit from the initial $99. It looks like they have dropped even more since then.

After I wrote the review (which had limited testing in a three monitor setup) I started using the three screen setup when my G5 died and left me with a spare monitor lying around.

Yeah...I was just teasing! No harm in self promoting...especially since your product review was a "perfect fit" for this thread!

Don't worry that's how I took it. When I link to something I've written I try to keep it on track with the thread.

BTW Congrats on your selection as Member of the Month.

I've never tried running dual external monitors from a notebook. Have desktop machines for that.

I would think that it would have to be pretty demanding. Plus consider that the OP wants to run THREE external monitors on a notebook...YIKES!

Sounds like he might be a day trader. My brother in law has a similar setup for his day trading activities but his is done from a Windows desktop.

Ahh...I could see that. It probably would be easier if the OP was also using a Mac desktop...either a Powermac G5 or a Mac Pro with multiple video cards.
