Good sound card for headphones

Hi. I am looking at buying a pair of Sennheiser PC 350 headphones for music, gaming and VoIP purposes. I have heard they require a good sound card in order to get good sound out of them. I have a 27" iMac, 2.66 GHz Intel Core i5 processor, 4 GB memory, running OS X 10.6.5.

I have no idea what kind of sound card or sound capabilities I have. Does anyone know if my iMac will put out some good sound on those Sennheiser headphones? Or is there a sound card I should buy?

1. The iMac has an excellent "sound card" built right in.

2. And where would you put this extra sound card that you might buy, exactly?
