    Cannon Printer
no question here just a comment really. I needed a new printer scanner and decided to go with the Cannon brand really just because of the ink. this brand works so incredibly well with my mac. this is the first printer i have ever used on my MBP but let me tell you the bundled mac software is great it was so easy to hook up wirelessly. i just really wanted to say how impressed i was and if anyone is looking for a brand of printer that works great with Mac with inexpensive prices on the ink check out CANNON..

    15-inch Early 2008; Processor 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo; Memory 4 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM; 10.7.5
So which model did you wind up going for then ? I was about to purchase an Canon last week, but the guy at Best Buy told me that the one's they had were being discontinued and that new models should be in by mid October. I think the one I was going to get was the PIXMA MP560. I was also looking at the MX870 and the MX340.

I'm curious as well. the MP 980 multifunction had was a pain to set up for wireless use. The 990 was better to setup but still not great.

I'll confirm that the Pixma MP 620 series worked wireless right out of the box both in Snow Leopard and Win 7. Ink readily available on the net at a fairly good discount.

I had a bear of a time setting up the MP980. It played nice connected to my Time Capsule but you loose the ability to check ink levels and scan wirelessly that way.

When the 980 died prematurely I got a 990 which was less of a pain to set up but still more of one than it should have been. My only complaint is that the ink tanks are a bit small if it is your primary printer.

Glad to know the current ones are a bit easier to deal with.

I would never buy an inkjet printer. The cartridges dont last, dry up when not in use and are expensive. Laser all the way.

We had a Dell color laser in the office for awhile. It just got too expensive to use. Each toner cartridge was $90 and it needed four. In average use the cartridges lasted around 6 months at best. In addition to that, the drum needed to be replaced after so many copies.

While I agree that a BW laser printer is the smart way to go if you don't need color, but until color laser consumables come down in price there is no way I will use one again.
