Has it worked before and recently stopped working of is the first time you've tried to do a time machine backup from your iMac on this Time Capsule?

External hard disk acquisition addict - but admitting the problem is the first step to a robust backup

What do the log files on the iMac indicate ?
Any backup messages in the logs ?

Cheers ... McBie

A computer lets you make more mistakes faster than any invention in human history - with the possible exceptions of handguns and tequila.
The problem is not the problem. The problem is your attitude towards the problem. You understand ?
