Canon Cannot - Scan

Mac Specs: MacMini 2.4, 4 Gb, OS 10.8 and 10.6; MacBook 2.4, 2 Gb, OS 10.5.8; G4 eMac 1.25, 2 Gb, OS 10.4.11

On behalf ..... a friend has set up a new Canon MP640, installed the software from the supplied CD, and the latest drivers from Canon. [OS 10.4.11 on a G5 PPC iMac. Connection is by USB cable. A different cable has been tried.]

When trying to scan, the message (as per attachment) appears, with an error number that has Canon NZ Support stumped!

I have suspicions, namely a networked but unconnected Macbook, but cannot do anything until physically at the friend's computer in a few days' time.

Perhaps the wider Mac-Canon community knows of a solution to this issue, I've had no success searching for it in M-F.

Not unusual mate. Reason I am going to an Epson. Try the suggested download:-

Canon PIXMA MP640 on Snow Leopard - not showing up

Thanks Harry, but that's for 10.6, friend has 10.4, and USB cable-attached. Read the attached text doc to see if it helps your situation. Adjust OS version number and printer model as required.
