Use mac to capture from TV

i've seen many ways to use a Mac to capture my gaming systems display from my TV, but all seem kind of expensive.

does anybody know of an inexpensive way to do this? as for quality i'm not looking for HD quality... SD is perfectly fine.

i have a 1st gen MacBook and a JVC TV (LINK)
