Airport Express - Audio crackle using digital out

Has anyone experienced this?

I connected my airport express to my hi fi using the digital output from the express through a high quality DAC. This works fine when music is playing but sometimes when there no music is being played and I am doing other things on the mac I sometimes hear a crackle and clicks on the speakers?

Any ideas?

QUOTE Thanks
