![]() Mac Specs: Macbook Pro 15" c.2007
|
I'm thinking of getting the 24" cinema display to go with my MacBook Pro 15" (c.2007). When I look at the screen in the stores, though, the resolution looks poor--like it's just an enlargement of the MacBook's 13" screen it's plugged into.
If I buy the 24" display, will it have a clunky enlarged resolution or will it look great? Why does it look so bad in the store? Thoughts and comments welcome--please!

As far as the external 24" display. It's not just about the resolution of the display that is helpful...but also in "extended desktop" mode (versus mirroring mode) the external display greatly increases your overall computer desktop real estate. The screen shouldn't look stretched in anyway unless the resolution is set lower than recommended - which is the case with almost all LCD displays.
As you have a 15" MBP the difference in screen space is quite large and would make a good difference. I have the 17" MBP with the same resolution as the 24" display and as the smaller screen has a smaller dot pitch I prefer to use the 17" display and would only consider a 30" monitor as an upgrade. Coincidentally though, I sold my 30" monitor for little more than the LED display - it was 1 year old and mint so if you have a look on eBay you may prefer to go all out if you have some extra money and the desk space. |

I thought it was a matter of buying an adaptor, but he said it wouldn't work. Is this true? My 2007 MacBook Pro won't work with a 2010 24" Apple Cinema Display? Thanks, Kevin |

He would be correct. I have yet to see a mini-DVI or DVI to mini displayport adapter.
Not to be confused with mini displayport to DVI which do exist. They are one way though and will not work in reverse. I cannot be held responsible for the things that come out of my mouth. In the Windows world, most everything folks don't understand is called a virus. |
