Can anyone help with this printing problem?

I've recently bought an Epson SX400 printer and am trying to print from my Mac laptop. I have uploaded the CD that came with the printer and downloaded Snow Leopard from the Mac website. When I click the 'print' button, my Mac recognizes the printer and sends the document but gets stuck in the printer queue. I know that the printer works as my friend tried it on his PC. Is there anything I'm doing wrong? Any help would be appreciated!

First I never use the disk that comes in the package I always go to the manufacturer's website and use the latest driver secondly in SL it will usually have the driver you need
if you follow the instructions under printer and set up in system preferences. I would delete the printer and start over.
