Can Macs just not print to canon printers?

I can't get my mbp to print to my canon Ir C2550 at my office.

I did some searching and found that a lot of people have this problem, and there usually ins't a solution.

Canon iR C2550 has errors

Try uninstalling all of the Canon software. Then hook up the printer and see if the Mac doesn't see it. If so, just select it as the printer to use and let the Mac's own drivers do the job. I know that sounds kind of simplistic. But, I've seen it work.
