I am looking to get some more space (1.5T) on my G5 Tower. A friend has had great success for his mac pro and suggested the Seagate Barracuda, but I just got on New Egg and read a brutal review. Anyone have anything to add/suggest? Here are my specs:

Power Mac G5
Machine Model: PowerMac7,3
CPU Type: PowerPC G5 (3.0)
Number Of CPUs: 2
CPU Speed: 2 GHz
L2 Cache (per CPU): 512 KB
Memory: 4 GB
Bus Speed: 1 GHz
Boot ROM Version: 5.2.4f1
Serial Number:

I bought from Best Buy the Seagate Barracuda 3.5" Internal Drive-SATA-1.5 TB-32 MB Cache-5900RPM but am just leery of installing it after the horror review.

Help!!

You're asking opinions, of which there are plenty. My preference is for Hitachi, then Seagate, but someone else is sure to hold a different view, so why not trawl your way through Hard Drives - CNET Reviews.

Another review you might care to read Seagate barracuda 7200.11 drives failing - The Inquirer. From that, you may want to use that seagate drive you've bought externally via a SATA-USB2 adaptor Newer Technology Universal Drive Adapter -... (U2NV2SPATA) at OWC.

I did read a couple bad ones on the Seagate 7200, but the one I bought from Best Buy (and have yet to install) is the 5900. Does that make a difference?
