Hello everyone,

Just got myself a brand spanky new Macbook pro unibody. Man the things amazing. In addition I also brought the mini port to hdmi so I can connect it to my 40" Samsung tv. In addition I have a 3.5 -> rca connected to the headphone to get audio. Problem is no audio. I have no clue why. Anyone else does?

John

Your Samsung TV is more than likely expecting the sound (along with the video) from the HDMI cable connector not the RCA from the MBP audio output.

Connect your MBP to the TV using a mini display port adapter to DVI and then into your Samsung. Audio out from the MBP via the RCA connectors should then work OK.

Regards.

Before you buy a new cable it's worth looking on the settings for the TV to see if it's capable of allowing specifying the source of the audio to be specified for particular HDMI ports.

External hard disk acquisition addict - but admitting the problem is the first step to a robust backup

Like Mrplow said check to see if you TV will accept this configuration. If it's a recent Samsung you should have no problem. You have to make sure your using the right HDMI port (check your manual), I hook my macbook up to my plasma all the time. IIRC it's the HDMI 2
