Hi there. I've had a Samsung CLP-300N printer for about 3 years now and lately I'm having problems with B&W printing. For about 2/3 of the width of the page it prints B&W documents so light that it's barely readable. Only the far right column of about 1/3 of the page prints visibly. This doesn't happen on colour lettering -- only B&W. And if I select all and change the colour to dark grey, then all the text is visible. It's only the standard black print that seems to be so faded. I've tried changing the print cartridge and that didn't work. Does anyone have any other suggestions on how to fix this? Thanks in advance.

It's possible it may be hardware related. If so, not much you can do except maybe try cleaning. Does the manual have a specific sequence to go through for cleaning? I know color laser printers are more difficult to clean than BW but that's about the only thing you can really do unless you're prepared to pull everything apart. If it turns out to be a drum defect, it may get expensive to repair. Take a look at your manual and see what it lists for the average lifespan of the drum.

Regards.

This may be some help Forum Search Results - fixyourownprinter.com
Most likely its the drum or imaging unit, the whole unit slides out and new ones are over $130.00. My imaging unit leaks toner. One day Ill find a parts machine and harvest the unit.
