Automatic Backup Other than Time Capsule

Is there any software that you can get for free that will automatically backup your mac's harddrive onto an external drive weekly or daily. I don't want to get a Time Capsule because it is way to overpriced for a simple task.

Mac Specs: iMac i3 (mid-2010) + OS 10.9; TV 3; iPhone 5S; iPad 4

Lifeisabeach is offline
If you have Leopard, just use Time Machine. It will work with any external drive. The Time Capsule is NOT required.


Please verify and include the exact model/year of your Mac and OS X version number (available from "About This Mac", then "More Info" on the Apple menu).
