    External USB HDD usage
    Hi everyone,

I just installed a 1 TB Western Digital External USB HDD for Time Machine on an iMac. It is working well.

Just one doubt; I had read somewhere that External Drives must not be left on for long periods of time. Is this true? Can I leave my external drives on for 10 hours a day or longer?

    Texas, where else?

My primary external drive (sitting in an OWC aluminum pro quad case) has not been powered off since it was plugged in almost 2 years ago.

My Time Capsule has not been powered down since it was plugged in last August.
I cannot be held responsible for the things that come out of my mouth.

Thanks bobtomay. That's reassuring news. Though OWC, I think is far superior to my WD USB.?
