Hi,
I have a MacBook Air and often watch movies. But the sound is -of course- only stereo.

Is there any (cheap) USB device, which has the ability to transport the (DD or DTS) audio optically to my 5.1 receiver?
You could say an USB-To-Toslink converter..

not sure how good the quality is, but eBay item number: 220364798564 might be what you're looking for.

Yes that is exactly what I'm looking for.
But I'm not sure wether it has DTS/DD Passthrough (Quote from ebay: "Mac version has 2 channel playback only")

edit: Never mind, guess the air only has analog through the audio out port..

in that case you may have to get something more expensive:

@bobtomay: no, air has no digital audio out.

The M-Audio Transit is perfect!! But it's a bit expensive..
Does anyone know cheaper devices?
