I just picked up a rather cheap Lexmark printer (x3650). I have come to find out that their software is horrible. Activity Monitor frequently shows Lexmark related processes taking anywhere from 50 to 99% CPU. Killing the processes renders the printer unusable. Startup times are suddenly slow, probably as all the Lexmark stuff is launched, and my entire system is affected by this.
Does anyone know of any alternative software to run the features of this printer? Leopard does not have a new enough driver for it that keeps the scanner working. I'm just kind of frustrated because printer drivers ALWAYS seem to be the most poorly written software imaginable. |
