i just recently bought a media hdd 500 gb from greenchilli
but my prob is its only compatable with windows.but i have mac.
so if i just try to reformat it using disk utility and turn it into fat32
is also not gonna help. i think cause by doing so software on media centre hdd will be lost.but then i can use it only as externel hd not as media centre hdd.
maybe somebody here can solve my problem
plz help

What functionality comes on the software that is on the drive? If you are simply looking to use this as a 500 GB external drive, you don't really care if you lose whatever Windows software was on it, do you?

So, just reformat it for HFS+ (the Mac native system) and carry on.

Is there a reason that this would not work?

My Macs: iMac 27" 3.4 GHz, Mac Pro 3.2 GHz, PowerMac G5 Quad 2.5 GHz, G4 Cube with 1.2 GHz Upgrade
