i just recently bought a media hdd 500 gb from greenchilli
but my prob is its only compatable with windows.but i have mac. so if i just try to reformat it using disk utility and turn it into fat32 is also not gonna help. i think cause by doing so software on media centre hdd will be lost.but then i can use it only as externel hd not as media centre hdd. maybe somebody here can solve my problem plz help |

What functionality comes on the software that is on the drive? If you are simply looking to use this as a 500 GB external drive, you don't really care if you lose whatever Windows software was on it, do you?
So, just reformat it for HFS+ (the Mac native system) and carry on. Is there a reason that this would not work? My Macs: iMac 27" 3.4 GHz, Mac Pro 3.2 GHz, PowerMac G5 Quad 2.5 GHz, G4 Cube with 1.2 GHz Upgrade My iStuff: 64GB iPhone 5, 64GB iPad4, 30GB iPod Video, 16GB iPod Touch My OS': Mac OS X Lion, Mac OS X Snow Leopard, Mac OS X Tiger, Mac OS 9.2.2, openSUSE 10.3 I was on the Mac-Forums honor roll for September 2007 |
