I really need to know how I can hook my Macbook up to my home audio receiver and be able to see what I see on my macbooks screen. I.e, watching movies and presenting power points.

Thanks in advance

I really need to know more about your home entertainment system and what connections it supports before answering that question accurately.

Assuming your TV has HDMI, you'll need a mini-DVI-to-HDMI converter cable and connect the MacBook to an available HDMI port on the TV.

For audio, run a standard line-out cable that splits to separate right/left RCA connectors and plug that into the receiver.

Be sure to set the TV and receiver to the inputs that you are using.

Well my receiver is a SONY STR-DA2000ES.

I was hoping there was a way to get video through my receiver to my TV because my TV is about 20FT away from my base station(receiver)

Ah yes. I assume you already are running one video-out line to your TV, and have all other components connected directly to the receiver then. Looking over the connector types of your receiver, and it doesn't have HDMI or DVI ports. You are limited to Composite Video, Component Video, and S-Video.

Pick up this adapter from Apple and use that with either an S-Video cable or Composite Video cable to connect to your receiver.

As for audio... same as before.
QUOTE Thanks
