I just wanted to report on the new firmware update for the airport extreme. I'm sure many of you already know, but for those that don't, the firmware update released yesterday finally allows non-time capsule wireless back up options. Previously only time capsules could be seen via time machine when connected wirelessly. Now, any usb hard drive connected to an airport extreme can also be used as backup location for time machine. This allows many potentially less expensive (or, as in my case, previously purchased) drives to be used as backup drives. A great improvement that further enhances the functionality of the Macbook Air for my purposes.
