Hey.
Yesterday i downloaded the Age of empires III demo on my eMac 1,25 ghz 256 MB RAM and 32MB VRAM. Obviously the game isn't supposed to run on a computer like mine, though I was willing to try it anyway. When i tried to open it, a message appeared saying that the game requires a 64MB video card. Then i searched some forums and apparently there's a way to open the game and ignore the video card detector, which is pressing the 'v' key as opening the game, and it works fine now, it's running faster than i thought, with average graphics. What i would like to now is: does this affect my computer hardware in any way? a friend of mine said it could send a bad file to the hard disk or ROM or something like that and advised me not to play the game, and i stopped cause i'm afraid it might damage my computer. Is my friend right? Did anyone know about this? (sorry for my not so great english, i'm portuguese ![]() Hope someone can help me! Pedro |

You could see it lock up during game play though with only half the vram it says it requires. If you're playing in full screen mode when it happens, you may have to do a hard shut down (using the power button) to get out of it. This "can" create havoc with your files, but we've all had to do it on occasion for years. And most with no undesired side effects. If you can get it to run, I say more power to you, but would suggest using windowed mode if you have the option. This way, if / when it locks up, you should be able to shut the game down without having to power the machine down. I cannot be held responsible for the things that come out of my mouth. In the Windows world, most everything folks don't understand is called a virus. Place your vote for our Member of the Month |

Ok, thanks for your answers. so i haven't got much to worry about, even if the requirements for the game are 512 MB RAM, 1,4 ghz and 64MB VRAM, and i have a 1,25 ghz emac with 256 ram and 32 mb VRAM? I'm only asking this because i found it strange that the game could run so well in my computer. If the game ran slowly i wouldn't even be asking this. I'm also afraid that any part of my computer might overheat. Thanks again
