OS 10.5 - Emptying Trash Quickly

I have a 250 GB removable disk hooked up to my MacBook, and am trying to delete my Time Machine Backup form it. It is taking FOREVER, probably because it is 190 GB. Is there a way to delete these files from the trash quickly?

If you want everything gone you can just erase it with Disk Utility and start over.
