OS 10.4 - desktop icons

Hi

After downloading and installing firefox, I now have an icon that looks like a white rectangle with the firefox logo on it - not in the dock but on the desktop.

Is there any way I can get rid of it? If I simply drag it to trash, it ejects firefox and when I want to use it again I have to drag firefox into applications and then the icon comes back?

Any help much appreciated, Nick

Double click the icon and install Firefox. Make sure it is in the Applications folder and then delete the alias.

when you open the icon you will see the firefox icon in there. open up the applications folder and drag and drop that icon into the applications folder. quit out of firefox and then open firefox up from the applications folder. after you do that get the other icon out of your dock and you'll be set.
