I was wondering if there is a way to do this. While I don't doubt the safety of my mac, I'd like to stop booting primarily to an admin account. I'd also like to setup my new user account to be exactly like the admin account, minus admin level permissions.

Any way to do this easily?

Thanks-

When you setup a new Account, don't select the option to Administer the computer. Then select "create account"
Afterwards, to the right, will be a window with 3 tabs. Select Parental controls. Select "Finder & System". Then select the "configure" button.
You will have complete control of what is accessed.

When all else fails, try everything!
The Rep System and you.

No, don't set up parental controls. That will restrict you more than you want.

I'd suggest you

1. Make a new account that will be the administrator. (Don't call it "admin", though. That's one of the most common accounts that hackers look for. Call it "fred" if you have to.)
2. Log in from that account, and uncheck the administration account from your existing account.

You will then have a non-admin account with all of your preferences and files intact, and a new, empty admin account for administrative tasks like installing software.
